Project Overview
Essaouira is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed coastal city known for its distinctive fortified medina, Gnawa music heritage, and rich artistic identity. The Centre des Arts et de la Culture (CAC) d'Essaouira is a new cultural facility designed to celebrate and promote this heritage — providing dedicated spaces for exhibitions, performances, artistic workshops, and cultural exchange.
Delivering a contemporary cultural building within or adjacent to a historic urban environment requires exceptional care in architectural design and construction methodology. The CAC project demands sensitive integration with its heritage context, incorporating acoustic requirements for performance spaces, climate-controlled gallery environments, and flexible public programming areas.
BIM coordination enables the design team to manage the complexity of diverse performance and exhibition spaces — each with unique acoustic, lighting, and technical service requirements — ensuring that spatial relationships and building services are fully resolved before the construction phase begins, protecting both the design intent and the heritage setting.
